The tour
Seven days built around two places rather than a different hotel every night. The first three nights are at Ascona on Lake Maggiore, with a day over the Simplon and the Nufenen and a gentler one round the lakes on the Italian side. Then the great day of the week, north over the Lukmanier, the Oberalp, the Furka and the Grimsel to Interlaken, for three nights under the Bernese Oberland. From there one day takes in four of the highest passes in Switzerland, and the other runs west through Gstaad to Gruyères on roads few visitors ever find. Five days at the wheel, eleven passes, and none of it hurried.
Every hotel is slept in by us before a member stays. Every dinner is eaten first. Cars are behind a locked gate or under a camera every night, and there is a drink waiting when you arrive, without you having to ask.
Itinerary indicative until dates are confirmed. Priced per person, two sharing, released with the 2027 dates to members first.
Where it goes
Ascona for Lake Maggiore and Ticino, Interlaken for the Bernese Oberland, and five days at the wheel between them: the Simplon, the Nufenen, the Lukmanier, the Oberalp, the Furka, the Grimsel, the Gotthard and the Susten, the lakes on the Italian side, and the quiet cols above Gruyères. The roadbook carries every turn.
The roads
Named here because they are the point. Each one driven in full, in season, before a member sees it.
Out of Ascona through the hundred valleys and over the border into Val Vigezzo, then north through the Gondo gorge to the top of the Simplon at 2,005 metres and the long, fast curves down to Brig.
Up from the Goms valley to 2,478 metres, the highest pass of the week and one of the highest roads in Switzerland, and down the far side into Ticino.
The west shore past the Borromean Islands to Stresa and Arona, the wooded hills above Varese, and home up the east shore by Luino with the water beside you all the way.
Up the quiet Val Blenio to the Lukmanier, across by Disentis to the Oberalp, and lunch above Andermatt with the valley below.
At 2,429 metres, with the hairpin by the old Hotel Belvédère above the Rhône Glacier, one of the most photographed bends in the Alps.
Straight up from Gletsch past the dams and the high lakes, then the long descent down the Hasli valley towards Lake Brienz. Driven both ways in the week.
Over the Gotthard from Airolo and down to Andermatt, then the Susten at 2,224 metres, broad and sweeping, back into the Oberland.
West through the Simmental and Gstaad, over the Col du Pillon and the Col des Mosses into French speaking Switzerland, lunch below the walls of Gruyères, and home over the Gurnigel above Lake Thun.

The high road, in the middle of the week.
Included in the price
One price for each car and the two of you in it, with all of this included.
Chosen and stayed in by us first. Every night of the tour, with breakfast, and secure parking for the car.
Exceptional food, carefully chosen and tasted by us beforehand.
A drink waiting in the bar on the first evening, once the cars are parked and the luggage is up, and the party introduced.
A tour leader with the party from the first morning to the last, setting the pace, running the day and settling the small things before you notice them. Every car is given a radio, so the party stays in touch on the road and the team can see where each car is.
Designed for the club, for the drive rather than the distance, and driven in full by us before a member sees them.
The roads and the evenings are professionally photographed and filmed as they happen, and shared with the party in the members' area afterwards.
A printed roadbook and route cards for the car, with each day's route on your phone in the members' area, and a discreet club decal for the car.
A technician travels with the party, with the tools and the knowledge to keep a car on the road. Recovery and parts remain with your own cover.
Hotels, timings, parking and the day's changes handled behind the scenes, with the team on call for the whole of the tour.
Good to know
The things members ask before they book, answered here rather than by return of email.
Booking
Membership comes first. Ask to join from the membership page; once you are a member, every tour is booked from your own members’ area.
A reference is issued, the price and the deposit are fixed as they stand that day, and the place is held for the deposit until a date printed on the booking. The deposit goes by bank transfer into the club’s trust account.
The balance is due by the date on the booking, into the same account. Then the insurance declaration, and the roadbook arrives before you do.

Fuel, tolls and vignettes, ferries and tunnels unless listed, lunches on driving days unless stated, recovery and parts, and your motor insurance, which must be valid in every country visited. Other meals are at your leisure. Members drive and insure their own vehicles. We do not and cannot verify anyone’s cover, and an insurer may treat an organised event as excluded, so confirm with yours in writing before you book.
Every payment you make towards a tour is held in the club's designated trust account, separate from the club's own money, until the day the tour departs.
